I finally have some time to update this thing...
Ok, so it's not so much as having the time to do it since my hectic work schedule is now back to normal. That means I have had time to catch up on my personal life, or at least the things I do in my life outside of work.
We are now way ahead of schedule as far as getting projects out the door to the store's customers. Our huge project is slowing, but surely moving ahead and I am personally overseeing and working on it. When you have someone who is documenting things and they use words like "Nebrasca" and "Arkansaw", you tend to question everything and all documents because if someone cannot copy down words off of one thing and write them down correctly, then there is room for concern about everything that person has done. Now that I have the time and flexibility to do this, I am doing a thorough inventory of everything that will not only satisfy myself, but other people as well.
As long as I am talking about work (I cannot talk specifically about the composition of the project in order to maintain client confidentiality), I will say that in my second check covering Dec 16-31 that I had over 60 hours of OT. I worked a total of 292 hours in the month of December alone. I even had to work the 30th & 31st since we were closed Jan 1. There was no way I was going to go in on that Monday. So, I did what I had to do in order to make sure all of our customers were satisfied. Funny thing is none of our customers will ever know of my dedication to make sure they got their orders back. As long as they got their stuff back when we promised them is all that matters to me and I hope that they all enjoyed their movies with their families over the holidays. That is what makes it all worth the effort I put into the months of October, November, and December.
I did end up winning one of the three football leagues I was in. Going into the playoffs of our league I was the #3 seed. Needless to say I did not think I was going to make it out of the 2nd round as I was going up against the #2 seed. But, my team pulled out a very close win with 165.42 points to 162.02. In the final round for the championship I defeated the #1 seed with a score of 153.42 to 123.28.
I went into the playoffs with a 7-6 record with three other teams have the same record, but since I had the most points (and probably defeated those teams early in the season when I went on a 6-0 run), I was #3. The #1 & #2 team had 8-5 records.
Since I have been participating in Yahoo! Fantasy leagues in '01, I have finished in first place in baseball in 2001, 2003, 2004 and in football in 2005 and 2006. I participate in a number of leagues each year and in baseball, basketball, football and a few times in hockey. I've even won once in hockey, but never have come close in basketball. One of these days I might, but probably not until I get a good draft placement. At any rate, it's always a fun time going up against the guys I normally do. Ok, enough about that.
I am finally over my cold I had Christmas weekend. I'd say it finally got completely out (no residual effects) towards the end of the first week in January.
I was in bed, asleep, between 9 & 9:30pm on New Year's Eve. I was so tired and not 100% feeling the best. Kinda sad, but that's what happens when one dedicates themselves to the success of their job- everything else takes a backseat, and that covers everything including taking care of themselves. As I said before, I lost 10 pounds and quite possibly more.
I watched 24 tonight. There was a 2-hour season premier and another 2-hour show tomorrow night. I highly suggest watching it if you haven't. Last season was the first one I watched and I was hooked from the first episode. I wish I hadn't missed the first 3 or 4 seasons, but I caught a few on a station that showed the previous seasons and I liked them just fine. But, they were not as good as last season or what this season seems to hold.
I have not seen any movies since Pirates 2. I wanted to see Casino Royale and some good horror movies, but I never got around to getting out in public due to work. I have seen some good previews of movies coming out this month/next month, so I will try & get out and see them.
For Christmas I did get Talladega Nights: The Ballad of Ricky Bobby and it was hi-lar-i-ous! Will has another movie coming out and you should watch the trailer.
I plan on doing a review of all the DVDs I own, so be on the lookout for that in the near future.
As for music, I suggest checking out a band called Mew. I like this song called "Snow Brigade".
Crush is doing fine. She's getting big. I haven't measure her lately, but I will soon. I think she's two now.
The fish are doing as good as ever. They have had 3 broods since October. I saved the majority of the first one (about 10-12 babies). One or two survived from the second and none from the third one. I didn't even know about the 2nd brood until I saw a couple of babies hiding out.
The shrimp had been knocking boots and I kinda had my suspicions about them as one day the tank got very cloudy for no reason at all. Then, shortly thereafter I could see one of the shrimp looked very thick and sure enough, it was carrying tons of eggs in her tail (really, on her flippers on the underside of her tail). Then another shrimp was carrying more eggs! Now, the first one is packing again! I don't think that any of the babies will ever survive as long as I have fish in there. So, that sucks, but at least I know that it is possible to breed shrimp at home. I have read it is quite difficult to get it to happen.
On my way home Friday, I stopped off and bought some new plants for the tank. It gives it more of the look I am going for- kinda bushy, short foreground plants and then I got a medium-sized, broad-leaf plant. I took the other one out and put it in Crush's tank, but she had eaten it by the following morning!
I have really enjoyed my fish tank once it was re-established after that first disaster with velvet. I think a lot of it has to do with having live plants now and not introducing new fish so often. I bought new fish sometime last year (just a couple more swordtails) and an algae-eater that is very flat. So, I have him and my occo-something (algae-eating catfish). I am surprised that the catfish has lived for so long- a little over two years now.
It's been nice going back to church after missing all of December (again, due to work). I did miss this morning as the weather was not-so-good. It has been raining off & on since late afternoon Friday. Couple that with 32-degree weather (and below) and it makes for a very unsafe commute. It is rumored that tomorrow morning will be worse as the second wave of freezing precipitation is rolling on through.
Friday was a complete downpour as has been at times today and yesterday. But, I am certainly not complaining in the least. Quite the contrary. I am glad and thankful for the lousy weather. It is winter after all. It is supposed to be like this. People should not be wearing shorts in December- period. This is not the west coast.
I will be glad to get back into working out once again. Not sure when that will be, but I would suspect sometime in February. I liked how I felt. I liked having some weight on my frame and my jeans fitting better; i.e., not so loose as they do now.
Ok, that's enough for now... peace out! Throwin' down!
-Super Dork!
